  • DISCIPLESHIP classes

    SUNDAYS at 10:00 AM

Living a Christian life comes through study, worship, and learning together. Discipleship Classes are essential for adults. When we learn to follow the example of Jesus Christ, we reveal the love of God by our actions throughout our daily lives. By following the example of Jesus, we can recognize the needs of others and find ways to serve in God’s name. Christian education is a never-ending process that is found in community, as Christians continue to study, worship, fellowship, and serve together. Christian education is a sacred responsibility, to be faithful to the life God has called us to live and to the world God has called us to serve.

  • CLASS MEETINGS AND BAND GROUPS

    Small Group Accountable Discipleship

Early in the Methodist movement, to be a Methodist really had everything to do with being in a class meeting and band group. The Wesley’s understood the importance of small groups when it comes to scriptural holiness which emphasizes the work of God’s grace to transform us more and more each day. Philippians 1:3-6 states that “I thank God every time I remember you. In all of my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” By gathering together, challenging each other and praying for one another God continues to build us up.

Do you have a small group of people that know you deeply?

Band groups of adults meet weekly to grow in their walk with Christ together by sharing how they are growing in the love of Christ, striving through the spiritual disciplines, serving members, family, and neighbors and witnessing to the world of the hope we have in Christ.

EVANGELISM AT FMC, BRYAN

We believe that the message of Jesus is life giving, eternal, and necessary to share. We also believe that when we, the church, work together and connect to our community, nation, and world we have a better opportunity to spread the greatest message of all time. FMC Bryan is excited about evangelism!

Lay PASTORAL CARE

Lay pastoral care volunteers work alongside the pastors to provide care for our congregation.

Ephesians 4:11-12 states that “Christ himself gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the pastors, and teachers, to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up” Consider the importance of the word equip. Every person in the body of Christ contributes to the larger work of ministry simply because God equips each of us for such work.

Pastoral care is simply being present, being available and being open to hear the needs and concerns of others. As Christians we believe that the Holy Spirit gives us certain gifts. By using these gifts, we continue the ministry begun by Jesus. Clergy and laity will work together to give the best quality care to our church family. This can be through phone calls, home, and hospital visits.

Stephen Ministry

Why the name Stephen? In Acts 6, Stephen was chosen to provide caring ministry to those in need. Since the time of the Apostles, caring ministry has been considered a hallmark of the Christian faith community.

What are Stephen Ministers? Stephen Ministers are laypeople trained to provide one-to-one, Christ-centered care. They have a compassionate heart for those who are hurting, and they’re equipped with caring ministry skills by their congregation’s Stephen Leaders. A Stephen Minister typically has one care receiver at a time and meets with that person once a week to listen, care, pray, encourage, and offer emotional and spiritual support.
